Preening? Or Hamming it Up? - 07 May 2011

I'm still processing images from Saturday morning's walk at Magee Marsh (Ottawa Co., OH) and Biggest Week in Birding, but needed to get these images up...

I came upon a Prothonotary Warbler that was preening in the early morning sunshine.  The bright male was quite cooperative and stayed for several minutes preening, and provided dozens of images from about 60'.

I was able to take numerous pics w/ the Better Beamer, then turned it off to use the ambient light.  I couldn't tell the difference in image quality, as the sunlight provided most of the illumination.  Still, the bird put on quite a show:

How do I look?

As always your images show why you are the master of bird photography.

We were at Metzger at dawn and at Magee a couple of hours later and the Prothonotary warblers were still there by the boardwalk tower putting on a show. Gorgeous shots! Thanks for sharing :-)
