A Red-necked Grebe was found yesterday at the boat launch at Lake Erie Metropark in s. Wayne Co. by James Fox and Karl Overman. I was unable to relocate it during my 10 minutes there, but did see hundreds of Mute Swans and a mix of diving ducks in the patches of open water. This Red-bellied Woodpecker flew into the tree near me and stayed long enough for a quick digiscoped photo.
A trip around Pt. Mouillee / Gibraltar Landfill brought zeros.
While driving home along US-Turnpike Rd. we spotted a Coyote walking the ice-covered canal.
A drive out to Willow Run Airport yielded 1 Snowy Owl and a few Horned Larks.
The Visteon / Grace Lake pond held hundreds of Ring-billed Gulls and a single flying Glaucous Gull. A possible Glaucous-winged Gull may be present (via Curt Powell).
